Sorrel
Rumex acetosa
Sorrel is a species of edible plant that has a heavy citrus taste. It is used as an herb in many dishes, such as soups and sauces. Sorrel is rich in fiber, yet may block the body from absorbing calcium, and can also cause the formation of kidney stones. Sorrel juice also exists, but it is actually made from dried hibiscus flowers. It is called sorrel juice, though, because this is its name in Jamaica and Africa, where sorrel juice originated from.
