Pomegranate
Punica granatum
Pomegranates are a round, hard, deep red fruit that contains between 200-1,400 juicy seeds called arils, which is the part that is eaten. Indigenous to Iran, pomegranates are very nutritious, having high levels of fiber and vitamins. They are also filled with antioxidants, which protect your cells, and compounds that help with inflammation. Pomegranate arils can be added to many different dishes, whether sweet like a cake, or savory like roasted vegetables.
